Former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem received a ruff reception online Tuesday after an attempted clapback at a Democratic senator saw critics digging up a controversial moment from her past.

Sen. Tina Smith (D-Minn.) had shared a photo on X of herself cuddling a puppy with the caption: “Don’t worry buddy, Kristi Noem isn’t around anymore.”
