Three Atlantic Canadians are set to compete on the upcoming season of “The Amazing Race Canada,” including Maestro Fresh Wes, the pioneering rapper who calls Saint John, N.B., home. The announcement was made by CTV on June 24, 2026.
Maestro Fresh Wes Returns to Reality TV
Maestro Fresh Wes, born Wesley Williams, is best known for his 1989 hit “Let Your Backbone Slide,” which helped establish Canadian hip-hop. He has previously appeared on other reality shows, including “Canada’s Smartest Person” and “Battle of the Blades.” This will be his first foray into a competitive travel-based series.
The rapper will be joined by two other contestants from Atlantic Canada: a father-daughter duo from Halifax, N.S., and a pair of best friends from St. John’s, N.L. The full cast list has not yet been released, but producers promise a diverse group of teams from across the country.
What to Expect This Season
The new season of “The Amazing Race Canada” will feature 10 teams racing across Canada and internationally, with challenges that test physical endurance, mental agility, and cultural knowledge. The winning team will take home a grand prize of $250,000, a trip around the world, and two Chevrolet vehicles.
“We’re thrilled to have Maestro Fresh Wes on the show,” said a CTV spokesperson. “His energy and charisma will be a great addition to the race.”
Atlantic Canada Representation
Atlantic Canadians have a strong track record on the show. In season 8, a team from Nova Scotia finished second. Maestro Fresh Wes’s participation highlights the region’s growing presence in Canadian entertainment. The rapper, who now resides in Saint John, has been active in the local music scene and community events.
The premiere date for the new season has not been announced, but it is expected to air later this year on CTV.
