Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel dedicated a portion of his Monday night monologue to what he presented as a rare piece of positive news for former President Donald Trump: a sex scandal within his political sphere that doesn't directly involve him.
Kimmel's Take on the RFK Jr. Scandal
The comedian zeroed in on reports concerning Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his alleged affair with journalist Olivia Nuzzi. Kimmel revealed that Kennedy reportedly sent Nuzzi a series of sexually charged poems during their involvement last year.
To the amusement of his audience, Kimmel read aloud excerpts from the purported poetry. "Poems like, ‘I am a river. You are my canyon. I mean to flow through you. I mean to subdue and tame you,’" he quoted, before continuing with another line: "‘Drink from me, love.’"
Never one to miss a chance for a punchline, Kimmel then added his own RFK Jr.-esque touch, mockingly stating, "It is safe for I have removed all the fluoride from my blood," a nod to Kennedy's well-known stance against water fluoridation.
A Stern Viewer Warning
Kimmel then issued a serious, albeit humorous, warning to his audience about delving into Kennedy's literary efforts. He cautioned that there may be some details you cannot unsee or unlearn.
"One of the words he used is so vile I had to look it up," Kimmel confessed. He cryptically added that the word "rhymes with belching" and strongly advised viewers, "don’t look it up. It’s bad."
The Fallout and a 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' Tribute
The monologue also expressed sympathy for Kennedy's wife, actor Cheryl Hines, who famously starred in the series "Curb Your Enthusiasm."
"Poor Cheryl Hines," Kimmel said. "She thought ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ was over. Now every day she hears this." With that, he played the show's iconic theme music, perfectly setting up his final verdict.
Kimmel paraphrased the famous catchphrase of the show's star and creator, Larry David, to deliver his ultimate judgment on the entire situation: "Pretty, pretty gross indeed."
