Late-night television host Jimmy Kimmel delivered a scathing rebuke of former President Donald Trump on Tuesday, following Trump's recent attacks on California Governor Gavin Newsom over his dyslexia.
Trump's Controversial Remarks on Learning Disabilities
Earlier this week, Donald Trump acknowledged that it is "highly controversial" to suggest that a president "should not have a learning disability." However, he proceeded to mock Newsom, referring to him derogatorily as "Gavin Newscum" and stating, "The president of the United States, Gavin Newscum, admitted he has learning disabilities, dyslexia, everything about him is dumb."
Kimmel's Fiery Response
In his monologue, Jimmy Kimmel fired back with a pointed reference to former First Lady Melania Trump's anti-bullying initiative, quipping, "Anyway, be best everybody." He then escalated his criticism, highlighting Trump's own linguistic missteps.
Kimmel pointed out: "This is a man who’s posted thousands of misspelled words over the last 14 years. He thinks 'mutilization' is a word in the English language."
The Ultimate Zinger
The comedian saved his most biting remark for last, noting the irony in Trump's attack. "In that clip, he referred to Newsom as the president of the United States," Kimmel said. "And he’s worried about Gavin Newsom’s learning disabilities? Everything about him is dumb?"
Kimmel's comments underscore the ongoing public discourse around political rhetoric, disability awareness, and personal conduct, drawing attention to what many see as hypocrisy in Trump's statements.
