Kelly Osbourne Confronts Body-Shamers After Brit Awards Appearance
Kelly Osbourne has publicly addressed the wave of body-shaming comments she received following her appearance at the 2026 Brit Awards. The former reality star attended the ceremony with her mother, Sharon Osbourne, to accept a lifetime achievement award on behalf of her late father, Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away in July 2025.
Red Carpet Appearance Sparks Controversy
At the event held on February 28, 2026, in Manchester, England, Osbourne wore a black velvet gown with a feathery shrug that she later removed to reveal the dress's thin straps and heart-shaped neckline. Social media users quickly commented on her appearance, with some expressing concern about her gaunt look and others accusing her of undergoing buccal fat removal surgery.
Osbourne responded forcefully to the criticism, posting a statement on her Instagram Stories the following day. "There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something," she wrote. "Kicking me while I'm down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most. None of it proves strength; it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character."
Defending Herself During Difficult Times
The 41-year-old television host emphasized that she is currently experiencing the most challenging period of her life. "I'm currently going through the hardest time in my life. I should not even have to defend myself," Osbourne stated. "But I won't sit here and allow myself to be dehumanized in such a way!"
This is not the first time Osbourne has faced body-shaming comments. In December, during an interview with her mother Sharon on Piers Morgan's show, she addressed similar criticism about her weight loss following her father's death. "You say that I look ill. Well, I am ill right now. My life is completely flipped upside down," she explained at the time. "My dad just died, and I'm doing the best that I can, and the only thing I have to live for right now is my family."
Recent Online Abuse
Just last week, Osbourne shared a particularly cruel Instagram comment that referenced her father's passing. The comment read: "Looks like a dead body... She's tooooo thin and fragile... Looks like she's going to see her dad soon." Osbourne responded by posting a screenshot with the caption: "Literally can't believe how disgusting some human beings truly are! No one deserves this sort of abuse! This too shall pass, but like, holy f***."
Osbourne has been open about her struggles with grief and the impact it has had on her physical health. She told Morgan that she has been struggling to eat since her father's death and chooses to share only the positive aspects of her life with her followers. "I choose to share my content with you and share the happy side of my life, not the miserable side of my life," she said. "So to all those people, f*** off."
The Brit Awards ceremony marked a significant moment for the Osbourne family, as they honored the legacy of Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary Black Sabbath frontman. Despite the celebratory nature of the event, Kelly Osbourne's experience highlights the ongoing issue of online harassment and body-shaming that many public figures face, particularly during vulnerable periods in their lives.
