Jon Stewart has offered a biting analysis of President Donald Trump's emotional state, suggesting that the president finds happiness in vengeance and being the center of attention. On the latest episode of his Weekly Show podcast, Stewart responded to producer Brittany Mehmedovic's question about whether Trump is happy by teasing that he had “never considered” such a query.
Stewart's Take on Trump's Happiness
“Oh boy,” Stewart began before continuing, “Poor, poor little billionaire president.” The comedian went on to stress that Trump is “animated by vengeance.” “And so, paradoxically, yes. I think he is happy that his body is a bile production facility. Whereas you and I live aerobically, he lives anaerobically and therefore is happy in his oxygen-less world,” Stewart continued.
Mehmedovic had pointed to a Fourth of July weekend that saw noticeably empty seats during Trump's weather-delayed speech, a flop of a Great American State Fair also sidelined by the weather, as well as the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool saga. She wondered why Trump would be “happy” given these events.
Attention as the Key Driver
Stewart questioned whether Trump interprets the weekend as a failure. “Do you believe that that is how he’s interpreting the weekend?” Stewart asked. “He put on the greatest American fair ever since the expo — since the World Expo in like 19-whatever!”
He later reexamined Mehmedovic’s question. “I think when you say, ‘Is he happy,’ ‘Is he the center of attention?’ Then he’s happy because he’s animated only by our eyes and our focus and our attention,” Stewart said. “He’s the original algorithm, he drives us to his embrace and we all revolve — he is the sun and we are but the stars. ‘Romeo and Juliet’ is about him. It’s about Donald Trump stepping out over the balcony, and it is east.”
