The human resources executive whose intimate moment with her married CEO was broadcast to thousands at a Coldplay concert has publicly addressed the scandal for the first time, describing it as a "bad decision" fueled by alcohol that led to the loss of her career and a torrent of online abuse.
The Viral Moment That Changed Everything
On July 16, 2025, during a Coldplay concert in Boston, the band's famous kiss-cam landed on Kristin Cabot and Andy Byron, then the CEO of tech firm Astronomer. The 53-year-old Cabot, who was the company's head of HR, was seen in a close embrace with her boss. The awkward moment, where they quickly pulled apart, was captured on the stadium's big screen and later spread across social media.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin quipped to the crowd, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” The viral video sparked immediate speculation about their relationship and triggered a professional and personal crisis for both individuals.
A "Boozy Mistake" and Its Heavy Price
In an interview with the New York Times, Cabot broke her months-long silence, framing the incident as a one-time error in judgment. “I made a bad decision and had a couple of High Noons and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss,” she stated. “And it’s not nothing. And I took accountability and I gave up my career for that. That’s the price I chose to pay.”
Cabot admitted to having a "crush" on Byron and said they shared tequila cocktails and danced at the show. She claims that until that night, they had never kissed. The kiss-cam captured what she describes as their first and only kiss.
Complicating matters further, Cabot's then-estranged husband, Andrew, was on a date elsewhere at the same concert. The couple had been separated for two years. Cabot told the Times her immediate concern was the embarrassment it would cause him and the glaring professional breach, given her role in HR.
Aftermath: Resignations, Threats, and Divorce
The fallout was swift and severe. Cabot and Byron attempted damage control, drafting an email to the Astronomer board. However, by the time it was sent the next morning, the footage had already gone viral. The company placed both on leave, launched an investigation, and soon after, Byron stepped down as CEO. Cabot subsequently resigned.
On August 13, 2025, less than a month after the concert, Cabot officially filed for divorce. Her ex-husband confirmed in a statement that their marriage had been ending long before the incident.
The personal consequences for Cabot extended far beyond her job. She reported receiving dozens of death threats and being publicly shamed and branded an adulterer. “I want my kids to know that you can make mistakes, and you can really screw up. But you don’t have to be threatened to be killed for them,” she said, adding that her teenage children are now in therapy.
Cabot and Byron kept in touch over the summer but stopped communicating by September to allow everyone to move on. She has begun to venture out again after a period of being afraid to leave her home.
As for Andy Byron, he and his wife Megan remain married and are now living in Massachusetts.
