Adam Driver has finally responded to Lena Dunham's allegations in her new memoir that he was verbally aggressive on the set of "Girls." Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday, Driver offered a brief and sarcastic reply when asked about Dunham's portrayal.
"I have no comment on any of that," Driver said. "I'm saving it all for my book." His quip drew laughter from his co-stars and the audience during the press conference for his new film "Paper Tiger."
In April, Dunham released her memoir "Famesick," in which she described Driver as "short-tempered and verbally aggressive, condescending and physically imposing." She claimed the two haven't spoken since the show ended. Dunham wrote that during a sex scene, Driver "hurled" her around, leaving her stunned. She also recounted an incident where Driver threw a chair at a wall and screamed at her after she forgot a line.
Despite the revelations, Dunham expressed empathy for Driver while promoting the book. "For better or worse, it was all of our first jobs," she told People. "I think Adam went on a very specific ride because he had the ride of the show and also the ride of becoming a major movie star at the same time. So he was on these two tracks, and he's a very, very serious work-focused private person. So I have a lot of empathy for that."
Driver's response at Cannes was his first public comment on the matter, and he offered no further elaboration. The actor is currently promoting "Paper Tiger," a crime drama premiering at the festival.
