Actor Nick Pasqual Gets 32 Years for Stabbing Ex

Actor Nick Pasqual, who appeared on television series such as "How I Met Your Mother," was sentenced to prison on Tuesday for the stabbing of his ex-girlfriend, makeup artist Allie Shehorn. Pasqual, 36, received a sentence of 32 years to life after being found guilty of attempted murder, first-degree residential burglary with person present, and injuring a spouse, cohabitant, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend, or child's parent, according to ABC7 Los Angeles.

The Attack

Prosecutors stated that Pasqual broke into Shehorn's home in the Shadow Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles shortly before 4:30 a.m. on May 23, 2024, and proceeded to stab her more than 20 times. The couple began dating after being introduced on the set of Zack Snyder's 2023 film "Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire," as reported by People.

Restraining Order and Victim Impact

According to the Los Angeles Times, Shehorn had filed a restraining order against Pasqual just days before the attack, detailing past incidents of physical and sexual assault. Although a judge approved the order, it remains unclear if Pasqual had been served at the time of the incident.

In her victim impact statement on Tuesday, Shehorn said, "When I was lying on the floor in a pool of my own blood, I remembered wondering if this was how my life was going to end. I was terrified, I was in pain." Addressing Pasqual directly, she added, "You, who I had once trusted, decided my life was something that you could take away."

Aftermath and Legal Proceedings

Pasqual fled California immediately after the attack and was detained by authorities at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas. Shehorn was hospitalized in intensive care and underwent 14 hours of surgery for injuries to her throat, back, chest, and wrists.

Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman praised Shehorn's courage in appearing "before her abuser in court to testify about the brutality she endured." He noted that her testimony was crucial in securing a guilty verdict so that Pasqual could no longer harm others.

Pasqual's Statement and Appeal

Pasqual, who plans to appeal the ruling, addressed the court briefly after sentencing, stating, "This is a burden that I will carry for the rest of my life, as I am filled with deep remorse — a remorse matched only by the gratitude I have that she's still alive. I thank God every day that Allie still has the opportunity to share her creativity with the world."

Shehorn's Career

As a makeup artist, Shehorn recently worked on the film "Obsession" and appeared on the red carpet at a special screening in Los Angeles last month. Her other recent credits include the 2024 musical adaptation of "Mean Girls," starring Reneé Rapp and Angourie Rice.
