The first-ever Outskirts Music Festival began in Saskatoon on June 26, 2026, drawing comparisons to the iconic 1997 Edgefest. The event, held at the Saskatoon Exhibition grounds, features a diverse lineup of local and national artists.
Opening performance and crowd expectations
Brayden King took the stage as the festival's first performer, completing a sound check ahead of his set. Organizers anticipate over 10,000 attendees over the two-day event, with camping and food vendors on site. "This is a historic moment for Saskatoon's music scene," said festival director Sarah Mitchell in a statement.
Nostalgia for 1997 Edgefest
Many fans noted the festival's resemblance to the 1997 Edgefest, which featured bands like The Tea Party and Our Lady Peace. "It brings back memories of that summer," said attendee Mike Kowalski. The Outskirts Festival aims to capture that same energy with a mix of rock, indie, and electronic acts.
Safety and logistics
Police have increased patrols around the venue, and a dedicated medical tent is available. Festivalgoers are reminded to stay hydrated as temperatures are expected to reach 30°C. "We've planned for every scenario," said security lead John Davidson.
