The West Coast Modern Home Tour returns this year, offering a unique opportunity to explore architecturally significant homes that define West Coast modernism. Scheduled for July 11 from noon to 4 p.m., the tour features a curated selection of original mid-century to contemporary dwellings, including designs by renowned architects Ron Thom and B.C. Binning.
Tour Highlights
Among the featured homes is the B.C. Binning House, often recognized as Canada's first truly modern residence. Designed by artist B.C. Binning, the home recently underwent a major restoration and expansion project completed last year. Another standout is the Fells House, designed by Ron Thom in 1959. This cedar-clad residence exemplifies the West Coast Modern ideal of integrating architecture with the natural landscape. D'Arcy Jones Architects recently renovated the home, preserving its iconic character while updating it for modern living.
Additional Homes on the Tour
- Rockview House – designed by ABC Architecture Building Culture in 2024
- Fuldauer House – designed by Erickson-Massey Architects in 1966
