Politecnico di Milano has achieved a new record in the QS World University Rankings 2027, one of the most prestigious international academic rankings. The university now ranks 87th globally, climbing 11 positions from the previous edition, and maintains its position as the top university in Italy.

Historic Milestone

After entering the top 100 for the first time last year, Politecnico di Milano has advanced further, breaking into the top 90 globally for the first time. This result reflects consistent and structural growth: over the past decade, the university has gained 100 positions, moving from 187th in 2016 to 87th in 2027.

Key Strengths

The university excels in employability, global engagement, sustainability, and research impact. Notable improvements were seen in employer reputation, sustainability metrics, international student numbers, and citations per faculty. Academic reputation remains stable at very high levels.

International Attractiveness

International students constitute 25% of the total enrollment, compared to a global median of 8.8%. This highlights Politecnico's growing ability to attract global talent, driven by educational quality, international reputation, strong industry ties, and the competitiveness of the Italian university experience.
