Key Upgrades and Features

The new cars offer wider aisles for easier wheelchair and stroller access, along with additional priority seating areas. Digital screens provide real-time route information and next-stop announcements. The interior lighting has been upgraded to LED for better visibility and energy efficiency.

According to Calgary Transit officials, the new trains also feature improved climate control systems and noise reduction technology. The fleet replacement is part of a long-term plan to modernize the city's light rail network.

Implementation and Timeline

The first batch of new cars entered service on the Red Line, with plans to expand to other routes throughout the year. Calgary Transit expects to have all 50 new cars operational by early 2027. The older models will be phased out gradually.
