Flames sign Theo Stockselius to three-year entry-level deal

The Calgary Flames have signed prospect Theo Stockselius to a three-year entry-level contract, the team announced Monday morning. The 18-year-old centre, selected 54th overall in the 2025 NHL Draft, will earn US$1,015,833 annually under the deal.

Impressive season in Sweden

Stockselius spent the 2025-26 season with Djurgardens IF in Sweden, playing at both the junior and senior levels. With the U20 team, he recorded four goals and 12 assists in 11 regular-season games, averaging more than a point per game. In the playoffs, he elevated his game significantly, tallying nine goals and 11 assists in 11 contests to help Djurgardens win a second consecutive league title.

He also appeared in 16 SHL games with Djurgardens senior team, registering his first career point in Sweden's top league.

Physical development ahead

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 196 pounds, Stockselius is expected to add strength before competing for NHL playing time. Flames general manager Craig Conroy praised his skill set, noting his hockey sense, playmaking ability, and skating.

"Just his overall package, I think that's what we really like about him," Conroy said last year. "He's smart, good hockey sense. He sees the ice well, makes plays, chips in offensively. He has it all, and he is still young. As you saw at development camp, he's tall, but he's thin right now. As his body fills out, with the skill he has with his hands and the way he sees the ice, we're really excited about him moving forward."

The left-handed centre will likely continue his development in Sweden or with the Flames' AHL affiliate before making the jump to the NHL.
