A serious single-vehicle collision on Highway 427 in Etobicoke has left a 27-year-old woman with life-altering injuries, prompting a lengthy highway closure and police investigation.

Early Morning Highway Crash

The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025, in the southbound express lanes of Highway 427 near Rathburn Road. According to Ontario Provincial Police, the vehicle was traveling south when it collided with a guardrail on the left side of the highway.

The driver, identified only as a 27-year-old woman, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Emergency responders rushed her to a nearby hospital with injuries initially described as life-threatening. Medical officials later downgraded her condition to life-altering injuries, indicating significant long-term health consequences.

Highway Closure and Investigation

The collision resulted in the complete shutdown of the southbound express lanes of Highway 427 for several hours as police conducted their investigation. The extended closure caused significant traffic disruptions during the morning hours.

In an unrelated incident Friday evening, Toronto Police responded to a stabbing on Danforth Avenue near Greenwood Avenue. The violent attack occurred around 9:20 p.m. on November 28, 2025, leaving a male victim with life-threatening injuries.

Officers located the injured man at the scene and immediately transported him to hospital. Evidence at the location included blood visible inside a restaurant on the south side of Danforth, just east of Greenwood Avenue.

Police cordoned off the sidewalk in front of the establishment with crime scene tape while investigators reviewed security camera footage from nearby businesses. Authorities have not confirmed whether the stabbing occurred inside the restaurant or on the sidewalk outside.
