Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a 46-year-old driver from Orillia after he was caught traveling at 160 km/h on Highway 11 in Orillia, a speed that is 70 kilometres per hour over the posted limit. The incident occurred on June 8, 2026, according to a police report released on June 15.
The driver was stopped by OPP officers and now faces a charge of stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act. As a result, his driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days, and his vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
Police remind motorists that excessive speed is a leading cause of serious collisions on Ontario highways. They urge all drivers to obey posted speed limits and to drive according to road conditions.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge.
