Toronto is bracing for a busy weekend with multiple events and construction projects leading to significant road closures. The TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon, a major parade, and ongoing infrastructure work will impact traffic across the city from Friday evening through Sunday.
Marathon Route Closures
The marathon, scheduled for Sunday, will close several downtown streets starting early morning. Key closures include Lake Shore Boulevard from Bathurst Street to Leslie Street, and sections of Bay Street, Queen's Quay, and Cherry Street. Drivers should avoid the waterfront area between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Parade Detours
A separate parade on Saturday will shut down parts of Yonge Street from Bloor Street to Queen Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Expect heavy congestion and consider using alternate routes like Avenue Road or University Avenue.
Construction Zones
Several ongoing construction projects will add to the delays. The Gardiner Expressway will have lane reductions near Dufferin Street, and the Don Valley Parkway will see closures at Bayview Avenue for bridge work. Commuters are advised to use public transit where possible.
