A 77-year-old pedestrian has died after being struck by a motorcycle in Prince Edward County, according to Ontario Provincial Police.
Crash Details
The collision occurred on Tuesday afternoon on County Road 15, just south of Picton. Emergency services responded to the scene at approximately 2:30 p.m., where they found the pedestrian with life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival.
The motorcyclist, a 45-year-old man from Belleville, was not injured in the crash. He remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
Investigation Ongoing
OPP officers from the Prince Edward County detachment are leading the investigation. The cause of the collision is still under review, and authorities are asking any witnesses to come forward. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors at this time.
County Road 15 was closed for several hours to allow for the investigation but has since reopened.
Community Impact
Local residents expressed shock over the incident. The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of family. This marks the second fatal collision involving a pedestrian in the area this year.
