A tragic head-on collision on Highway 7 late Friday night has resulted in one fatality, according to the Ontario Provincial Police. The crash occurred east of Kaladar during heavy snowfall.

Details of the Fatal Collision

The incident happened shortly after 10 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2026. Provincial police reported that a transport truck and a pickup truck collided head-on under challenging weather conditions characterized by heavy snow.

The driver of the pickup truck, who was the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders were unable to save the individual. The driver of the transport truck sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The extent of those injuries remains undetermined at this time.

Road Closure and Investigation

Following the severe crash, Highway 7 was closed for several hours between highways 38 and 41 to allow for emergency response, cleanup, and a preliminary investigation. The closure significantly impacted travel in the area, which is approximately 160 kilometers southwest of Ottawa.
