Montreal drivers should prepare for several road closures this weekend, from June 19 to 21, as construction and maintenance projects continue across the city. The closures affect major highways and local streets, potentially causing delays for weekend travelers.
Highway 40 Closures
Eastbound lanes of Highway 40 will be closed between Highway 13 and exit 64 for bridge repairs. The closure runs from Friday night at 11 p.m. until Monday morning at 5 a.m. Westbound lanes remain open, but drivers should expect reduced speeds in the area.
Highway 15 Work
Southbound Highway 15 will see lane reductions near the Decarie Interchange from Saturday at 7 a.m. to Sunday at 7 p.m. Crews are resurfacing the roadway. Two of three lanes will remain open, but heavy traffic is expected.
Turcot Interchange Detours
The Turcot Interchange will have ramp closures affecting connections between Highway 20 and Highway 15. Northbound access from Highway 20 to Highway 15 is shut down from Saturday morning until Sunday evening. Signed detours will guide motorists via local streets.
Local Street Closures
Several downtown streets will be closed for the Montreal Grand Prix festivities. Rene-Levesque Boulevard will be closed between Peel and University streets from Friday afternoon until Monday morning. De Maisonneuve Boulevard will also have intermittent closures for pedestrian events.
Public Transit Alternatives
The STM recommends using metro and bus services to avoid traffic. Extra metro service will be available on the Green and Orange lines during closure periods. Bus routes 150 and 178 will be rerouted around construction zones.
Safety Reminders
Drivers are urged to obey posted detour signs and reduce speed in work zones. Construction crews are active throughout the weekend, and fines for speeding in construction zones are doubled.
