HALIFAX, N.S. — The Alderney ferry has returned to its regular schedule after a brief service disruption, Halifax Transit confirmed Wednesday. The Vincent Coleman ferry, which had been out of service for maintenance, resumed operations, restoring full commuter connections between Halifax and Dartmouth.
Service Restoration Details
Halifax Transit announced that the Vincent Coleman ferry was back in service as of Wednesday afternoon, following repairs that had temporarily reduced capacity on the route. The Alderney ferry, which had been operating on a modified schedule during the maintenance period, has now returned to its usual timetable.
“We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the disruption and thank passengers for their patience,” a transit spokesperson said in a statement. The repairs were completed ahead of schedule, allowing for an earlier-than-expected return to normal operations.
Impact on Commuters
The ferry service is a vital link for thousands of daily commuters between Halifax and Dartmouth. During the disruption, some passengers experienced longer wait times and crowded conditions as the remaining ferries handled increased demand. With both ferries now operational, transit officials expect a return to normal passenger flow.
Halifax Transit continues to monitor the fleet for any further maintenance needs and advises passengers to check the transit app for real-time updates.
