Driver Clocked at Excessive Speed
Vancouver police pulled over a driver who was traveling at more than double the posted speed limit on June 21, 2026. The motorist told officers he was rushing because he was late for a tee time at a golf course, according to a police statement.
Incident Details
The driver was stopped on a city street where the speed limit was 50 km/h. The vehicle was recorded at 110 km/h, police said. The officer noted the driver appeared agitated and explained his haste was due to a scheduled golf game.
Legal Consequences
The driver received a ticket for excessive speeding, which carries a fine of up to $483 and six penalty points under British Columbia's Motor Vehicle Act. Police emphasized that dangerous driving for any reason is unacceptable. "Being late for a tee time does not justify risking lives," said Vancouver police spokesperson Sgt. Steve Addison in a statement.
Public Safety Reminder
Vancouver police urge all drivers to obey speed limits and plan ahead to avoid rushing. Speeding reduces reaction time and increases the severity of collisions. The incident serves as a reminder that no appointment is worth endangering oneself or others on the road.
