Canada Post has added its name to the list of services affected by the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 in Vancouver. The federal agency announced minor service interruptions for street mailboxes located near the FIFA Fan Fest at the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) fairgrounds and Vancouver Stadium at B.C. Place during match days.
Service Disruptions During World Cup
In a news release, Canada Post stated: 'As Canada excitedly prepares to co-host the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Vancouver and Toronto, Canada Post wants customers to be aware of minor service interruptions as the host cities safely welcome fans from around the world.' The disruptions will affect several street letter mailboxes in neighborhoods close to the two venues from June 11 to 19 and on match days.
Affected Areas and Mailboxes
The following street mailboxes will be cleared and sealed before match days, including weekends:
- Cooperage Way and Smithe Street
- Near the intersection of East Pender Street and Main Street
- 118 Robson St.
- 840 Cambie St.
- 555 Abbott St.
- The mailbox at 1105 Granville St. will be relocated to the southwest corner of Helmcken Street.
Service disruptions are not anticipated for postal codes beginning with V6A, V6B, and V6Z, and commercial customers in the event areas will not be affected.
Match Days and Start Times
The fan fest will operate daily from as early as 8 a.m. to as late as midnight. Match days and start times are as follows:
- Saturday, June 13, 9 p.m.: Australia vs. Türkiye (no mail delivery on Saturdays)
- Thursday, June 18, 3 p.m.: Canada vs. Qatar
- Sunday, June 21, 6 p.m.: New Zealand vs. Egypt (no mail delivery on Sundays)
- Wednesday, June 24, noon: Canada vs. Switzerland
- Friday, June 26, 8 p.m.: New Zealand vs. Belgium
- Thursday, July 2, 8 p.m.: Round of 32
- Tuesday, July 7, 1 p.m.: Round of 16
Post Offices Operating Normally
The three post offices near the event locations will continue regular operations:
- 238 Robson St.
- 1173 – 88 West Pender St.
- 495 West Georgia St.
