Brampton Highway 410 Crash Leaves One Driver Critical, Another Flees Scene
A serious multi-vehicle collision on Highway 410 in Brampton early Wednesday morning has resulted in life-threatening injuries for one driver while another involved party fled the scene on foot, according to Ontario Provincial Police.
Early Morning Collision Details
The incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. on January 28, 2026, in the northbound lanes approaching Clark Boulevard. Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt reported that the crash initially involved two vehicles—a blue car and a silver car. Following this initial impact, the situation escalated dramatically when the driver of the blue vehicle exited his car.
The driver was then struck by a third northbound vehicle, becoming pinned between the approaching car and his own stationary vehicle. This secondary impact resulted in life-threatening injuries, and the man remains in critical condition at a local hospital.
Aftermath and Investigation
Of the two other occupants in the blue vehicle, one sustained relatively minor injuries, though police are uncertain whether these injuries occurred during the initial collision or the subsequent impact. Meanwhile, the driver of the silver car—described only as a male—fled the scene on foot immediately following the crash.
Police have launched an extensive search operation involving canine units and Peel Regional Police to locate the missing driver. "We are following up on leads from the vehicle and from the registered owner of that vehicle," Sgt. Schmidt stated, adding that authorities are concerned about possible injuries the fleeing driver may have sustained.
Road Closures and Safety Advisory
The northbound lanes of Highway 410 between Steeles Avenue and Queen Street remain closed for investigation and cleanup as debris is scattered across the highway. Police anticipate the closure will persist until approximately 10 a.m. while they process the scene.
Two occupants of the third vehicle involved—a white car—were transported to hospital primarily as a precautionary measure. Ontario Provincial Police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident to contact Mississauga OPP immediately.
Sgt. Schmidt issued a critical safety reminder for all drivers: If you're involved in a collision, do not exit your vehicle—especially if you're stopped in live lanes of traffic—and call 911 immediately. This advisory comes as a direct response to the tragic circumstances of this particular incident where exiting the vehicle led to catastrophic consequences.
