This strategic initiative aims to deliver enhanced value, personalization, and engagement for the company's extensive base of over 38 million active members across North America. The updated program introduces a new tiered membership structure with three distinct levels: Green, Gold, and Reserve.

The new Starbucks Rewards program features a graduated tier system that rewards increased engagement with enhanced benefits and earning potential:

  • Green Level: Entry-level members receive personalized offers, early access to select beverages and food, and the popular Birthday Reward. A new Free Mod Mondays benefit provides complimentary beverage modifications on one Monday each month. Green members earn 1 Star per dollar spent, with Stars valid for six months unless extended through monthly qualifying activities.
  • Gold Level: Intermediate members unlock accelerated Star-earning capabilities and enhanced rewards, including Stars that never expire—a significant improvement over the previous expiration policies.
  • Reserve Level: Premium members enjoy the most exclusive benefits, including maximum Star-earning rates, premium experiences, and permanent Star validity, recognizing their highest level of loyalty and engagement.

Enhanced Star Earning and Redemption System

The redesigned program introduces more flexible Star-earning opportunities that extend beyond payment methods. Members can accelerate their Star accumulation as their activity increases, with digital reloads of Starbucks Cards offering bonus Stars—10 Stars for $30+ reloads and 25 Stars for $50+ reloads.

Notably, the program addresses longstanding member concerns about Star expiration. While Green members can prevent Star expiration through monthly qualifying activities, Gold and Reserve members benefit from Stars that never expire, demonstrating Starbucks' commitment to valuing its most dedicated customers.
