Miata Metals Announces Record Gold Intercept at Sela Creek Project in Suriname
VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Miata Metals Corp. has reported groundbreaking drill results from its ongoing 25,000-meter diamond drilling program at the Sela Creek Gold Project in Suriname. The company revealed that drilling at the Big Berg target has delivered the most significant intercepts to date, confirming a substantial near-surface gold system with consistent mineralization.
Exceptional Drill Results Highlight New Discovery
The drilling program has yielded remarkable results, with hole 26DDH-BB-003 intersecting 96 meters of 1.41 grams per tonne gold starting at 96 meters depth. This represents the strongest drilling performance observed on the project thus far. Additionally, the same hole showed 67.5 meters of 1.13 g/t gold from surface, demonstrating the continuity of mineralization from near-surface depths.
Within these broader intercepts, multiple high-grade zones were identified, including:
- 18.1 meters at 2.95 g/t Au from 40.4 meters
- 7.7 meters at 5.79 g/t Au from 130.3 meters
- 4.65 meters at 3.98 g/t Au from 147 meters
- 23.5 meters at 2.34 g/t Au from 168.5 meters
Big Berg: A Significant New Discovery
Big Berg represents a new discovery located approximately one kilometer southeast of the established Jons Trend zone. This marks the first large discovery outside of Jons Trend, significantly expanding the project's scale and highlighting its district-scale potential. The mineralization at Big Berg suggests it may form part of the same structural corridor as Jons Trend.
Continuity of gold mineralization was confirmed in three additional drill holes at Big Berg:
- DDH-BB-001: 7 meters at 3.75 g/t Au from 96 meters
- DDH-BB-002: 25 meters at 0.90 g/t Au from 69 meters, and 5.25 meters at 2.38 g/t Au from 105 meters
- DDH-BB-004: 7.25 meters at 2.79 g/t Au from 90.75 meters, and 7.2 meters at 1.99 g/t Au from 110.8 meters
CEO Comments on Project Significance
Dr. Jacob (Jaap) Verbaas, CEO of Miata Metals, expressed enthusiasm about the results, stating, "These results from Big Berg mark a defining moment for the Sela Creek Project. Intersecting nearly 100 metres of continuous gold mineralization at 1.41 g/t Au in a new target, beginning near surface, is a clear indication that we have found a large and robust gold system."
Verbaas further noted, "What is particularly compelling is the strong similarity between Big Berg and Jons Trend. While Jons Trend continues to grow toward what we expect will form the basis of an initial resource, Big Berg demonstrates that mineralization extends beyond a single discovery zone."
Expansion Potential and Ongoing Operations
Both Big Berg and Jons Trend remain open along strike and at depth, indicating significant district-scale expansion potential. The company has positioned one drill rig back at Big Berg to continue testing this exciting new discovery zone. The ongoing drilling program aims to further define the full scale of the mineralization system.
The results confirm a broad gold system with consistent mineralization from surface at Big Berg, adding substantial scale to the Sela Creek Gold Project through drilling activities. The discovery highlights the project's potential to develop into a significant gold mining district in Suriname.
