VANCOUVER – Canterra Minerals Corporation has announced a significant discovery of high-grade gold mineralization from its recent diamond drilling program at the fully-owned Wilding Gold Project in central Newfoundland. The standout result from the fall 2025 campaign is an intercept averaging 10.89 grams per tonne of gold over a core length of 31.5 metres.
Exceptional Drill Results Unveiled
The company, trading on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol CTM, completed 1,243 metres of large-diameter core drilling across 18 holes last fall. The work focused on the Elm and Alder Zones, as well as a new target named Aspen. The highlight hole, WL-25-100 at the Elm Zone, not only returned the 31.5-metre interval but also included an ultra-high-grade section of 41.0 g/t Au over 5.4 metres starting at a shallow depth of 59.0 metres.
Additional shallow, high-grade intersections were reported. Hole WL-25-95 at the Alder Zone hit 6.16 g/t Au over 4.1 metres from just 5.1 metres depth, including a one-metre section assaying 20.96 g/t Au. These results underscore the presence of robust, near-surface gold mineralization.
Expanding a District-Scale System
Chris Pennimpede, President and CEO of Canterra, stated that these findings confirm Wilding's potential to host a high-grade, district-scale gold system. He emphasized the project's strategic location in a top Canadian mining jurisdiction, directly adjoining Equinox Gold's producing Valentine Mine.
The recent drilling has led to a new geological interpretation. The Elm Zone prospect is now seen as a mineralized gold corridor stretching approximately 300 metres along strike and 100 metres down dip, indicating substantial scale and resource potential. Drilling confirmed the continuity of high-grade quartz-sulphide gold veins, with associated alteration halos pointing to a larger hydrothermal system at work.
The first-ever drill test at the new Aspen Target also yielded encouraging results, with anomalous gold values up to 0.57 g/t Au, successfully expanding the known area of mineralized veining on the property.
Key Drill Results Summary
The following table summarizes the most significant results from the fall 2025 program at the Wilding Gold Project. All intervals are reported as downhole core lengths, with true widths yet to be determined.
- WL-25-100 (Elm Zone): 31.5 m @ 10.89 g/t Au from 59.0 m depth.
- WL-25-101 (Elm Zone): 6.6 m @ 8.22 g/t Au from 14.2 m depth.
- WL-25-95 (Alder Zone): 4.1 m @ 6.16 g/t Au from 5.1 m depth.
- WL-25-90 (Elm Zone): 2.0 m @ 8.41 g/t Au from 58.3 m depth.
Strategic Implications and Next Steps
The fall program was designed to test specific geological concepts, including the "extensional vein set" model, to understand how multiple vein orientations contribute to grade and continuity. The success of this campaign validates Canterra's exploration approach and significantly de-risks the project.
With global economic uncertainty driving investor interest toward secure North American gold assets, Canterra positions itself to create long-term shareholder value through disciplined exploration. The company's location next to Atlantic Canada's largest gold producer provides a compelling strategic advantage. The results from Wilding, announced on January 20, 2026, mark a major step forward in defining a new, high-grade gold camp in Newfoundland.
