Atico Mining Unveils Promising Drill Results from Colombian Operation
VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Atico Mining Corporation (TSX.V: ATY | OTCQX: ATCMF) has announced exceptionally positive drilling results from its ongoing 2025 exploration program at the El Roble mine in Colombia. The company reported high-grade copper and gold intercepts, including a remarkable 8.70-meter section grading 11.44% copper and 14.65 grams per tonne gold, signaling substantial potential for resource expansion at the operation.
Exceptional Drill Results Highlight Resource Potential
The Vancouver-based mining company revealed assay results from 19 drill holes completed during 2025 in an area of historical mining activity. Among the standout intercepts was 6.16 meters of 13.32% copper and 2.79 g/t gold, demonstrating the consistent high-grade nature of the mineralization. The drilling campaign, which has added 885.6 meters of exploration this year alone, successfully extended known mineralized zones and led to the discovery of a new sulfide body adjacent to the main ore deposit.
Fernando E. Ganoza, CEO of Atico Mining, expressed strong optimism about the results. "The ongoing drilling campaign in the mine vicinity continues to highlight the strong potential of the El Roble deposit, discovering new mineralization along with successfully extending the main historical massive sulphide bodies," Ganoza stated. "These assay results continue to increase confidence in our view that additional high-grade copper and gold mineralization remains both within the historically defined bodies and beyond the previously outlined mineralized shell."
Expansion and Discovery Mark 2025 Program
The exploration program has yielded significant results across multiple drill holes, with ore-grade intercepts reported over widths ranging from 1.2 to 16.7 meters in areas that previously had limited drilling coverage. The company emphasized that these findings highlight the possibility of further extending the ore body with additional drill programs planned throughout the remainder of 2025.
Notable intercepts from the drilling program include:
- ATD-0314: 3.15m of 7.53% Cu, 11.41 g/t Au
- ATD-0317: 4.45m of 6.32% Cu, 15.03 g/t Au
- ATDM-001: 16.70m of 3.58% Cu, 1.43 g/t Au
- ATDM-030: 3.00m of 9.58% Cu, 3.63 g/t Au
The true widths of these mineralized zones are estimated to be between 90% and 95% of the drill intercepts, accounting for uncertainties in the local strike and dip of the mineralization.
Strategic Importance for Colombian Mining Operations
The El Roble mine represents a significant asset in Colombia's mining sector, operating as a high-grade underground copper and gold mine with a processing plant capacity of 1,000 tonnes per day. Located in the Department of Choco, the mine produces a copper-gold concentrate as its commercial product.
The primary objective of the 2025 underground drilling program is threefold: to define previously unexploited mineralization zones within the main historic massive sulphide body, to expand the historically identified resource, and to explore for new massive sulfide bodies. This comprehensive approach began as an infill program in the first quarter of 2023 and has continued to deliver promising results.
Ganoza confirmed the company's commitment to continued exploration, noting that the drill campaign is planned to continue throughout 2025, with the potential to further expand the mineral resource base and enhance the mine's long-term viability.
