Global Energy Show Kicks Off in Calgary Amid Oil Shock
The Global Energy Show is set to take place in Calgary next week, against the backdrop of a significant oil shock that has rattled global markets. The event, which runs from June 9 to 11 at the BMO Centre, will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to discuss the future of energy.
Industry Leaders to Gather
More than 500 exhibitors and 30,000 attendees are expected to attend the show, which will feature keynote speeches from top executives of major oil and gas companies, as well as representatives from renewable energy sectors. The conference will address pressing issues such as supply chain disruptions, price volatility, and the transition to cleaner energy sources.
Oil Shock Context
The oil shock, triggered by geopolitical tensions and production cuts, has led to crude prices soaring above $100 per barrel. This has created both challenges and opportunities for Alberta's energy sector. The show will explore how companies can adapt to the current market conditions while investing in sustainable technologies.
Focus on Innovation
New this year is a dedicated innovation zone showcasing startups and emerging technologies in carbon capture, hydrogen, and digital solutions. The event also includes a career fair aimed at attracting young talent to the energy industry.
Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek emphasized the importance of the show for the local economy, stating that it positions the city as a global hub for energy discussions. The Global Energy Show is organized by dmg events and has been held annually since 1968.
