ABB Launches 4-in-1 Gas Analyzer for Safer Natural Gas and Biogas Operations
ABB's New Analyzer Measures Four Critical Gas Contaminants

In a significant advancement for the energy industry, global technology leader ABB has announced the launch of a new, all-in-one gas analyzer designed to streamline safety and quality monitoring for natural gas and biogas operations.

One Device, Four Critical Measurements

The new analyzer, called Sensi+ NG, represents the next generation of multi-gas monitoring. It is engineered to measure four of the most critical contaminants in a single, rugged device: oxygen (O₂), hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), water vapor (H₂O), and carbon dioxide (CO₂).

This innovative 4-in-1 capability eliminates the need for multiple, separate analyzers, simplifying operations for producers and pipeline operators. The device provides continuous, real-time data on gas quality, which is essential for ensuring product meets strict pipeline standards before injection into the distribution grid.

Enhancing Safety and Operational Efficiency

Contaminants in natural gas and biogas pose serious risks, including pipeline corrosion and safety hazards. The Sensi+ NG is designed to mitigate these risks by offering nearly instant insights into gas streams.

"The enhanced Sensi+ NG is a rugged and intelligent device that builds on that legacy by continuously monitoring the four most critical gas contaminants, ensuring product flow and protecting the safety of assets, environment and people," said Stefan Parmentier, Global Product Manager for Industrial ICOS at ABB’s Measurement & Analytics division.

The analyzer is powered by ABB's proprietary OA-ICOS™ laser technology, which is known for its reliability and fast response time. This allows for quicker decision-making and helps maintain operational continuity by maximizing efficiency and reducing maintenance needs.

Built on a Legacy of Innovation

The Sensi+ NG builds upon the success of ABB's first multi-gas contaminant analyzer, which was originally developed in collaboration with a major North American natural gas pipeline company. The original device was praised for its multi-gas analysis, ease of use, and reduced operational footprint and costs.

The latest model, unveiled on December 02, 2025, adds the crucial capability of oxygen measurement to the existing suite, creating a comprehensive monitoring solution. This development supports not only upstream and midstream pipeline operators but also the growing biogas and biomethane sector, which is increasingly important in Canada's energy transition.

By consolidating critical measurements, the Sensi+ NG aims to enhance productivity, support operational safety, and contribute to more reliable and efficient performance across industrial environments in Canada and beyond.
