Groupe Dynamite Inc. reported its first-quarter financial results on Tuesday, posting a profit of $20.2 million, an increase from $16.3 million in the same period last year. The Montreal-based clothing retailer, which operates the Garage and Dynamite brands, said revenue for the quarter ended May 3 totaled $287.4 million, up 12.4% from $255.7 million a year earlier.

Key Financial Highlights

The company attributed the revenue growth to strong performance across both its retail and e-commerce channels. Same-store sales increased by 8.5% compared with the first quarter of last year. Gross profit margin improved to 38.2% from 37.5%, driven by better inventory management and lower markdowns.

Operational Performance

Groupe Dynamite opened three new stores during the quarter and expanded its digital presence with enhanced online features. The company's e-commerce sales grew 15% year-over-year, now representing 28% of total revenue. Chief Executive Officer Andrew Lutfy said the results reflect the strength of the company's brands and its ability to adapt to changing consumer preferences.
