Woman Arrested with Multiple Fraudulent Identification Documents in Sault Ste. Marie
Police in Sault Ste. Marie have reported the arrest of a 34-year-old woman who was found in possession of 18 identification cards and six bank cards that did not belong to her. The incident occurred on April 30, 2026, when officers stopped the woman during a routine patrol. Upon searching her belongings, they discovered a large number of ID cards, including driver's licenses, health cards, and other government-issued identification, all bearing different names. Additionally, she had six bank cards linked to various accounts not in her name.
The woman was taken into custody and is facing multiple charges related to identity theft, fraud, and possession of stolen property. Police are investigating how she obtained these documents and whether she was involved in a larger identity theft ring. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has urged anyone with information to come forward.
Authorities have not released the woman's name pending a court appearance. The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be laid as police continue to analyze the seized items.
