A Windsor bank employee's vigilance thwarted an identity fraud attempt, resulting in the arrest of a 34-year-old man. The incident occurred on May 11 at a financial institution in the city's east end.

Police were called to the bank located in the 2600 block of Tecumseh Road East just before noon after an employee reported that an individual was allegedly attempting to use a stolen identification document. Investigators determined that the suspect had presented a stolen driver's license.

Bank staff promptly contacted law enforcement, who arrived at the scene. The suspect allegedly tried to flee but was apprehended by officers. During the arrest, police seized several items believed to be connected to the investigation, including stolen identification cards, debit cards, and credit cards.

The suspect faces multiple charges, including fraud under $5,000, personation of another with intent to gain advantage, two counts of possession of identity information for a fraudulent purpose, two counts of possession of identity documents belonging to another person, two counts of possession of a forged document with intent to commit an offence, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.
