Surrey police are investigating after a business in Cloverdale was targeted in a shooting Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred near 58 Avenue and 176 Street at approximately 2:20 p.m., according to the Surrey Police Service. Officers arriving at the scene discovered at least one business that had been damaged by gunfire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Vehicle Fire Linked to Shooting?

About 25 minutes after the shooting, police responded to a report of a vehicle on fire near 20 Avenue and 174 Street, roughly eight kilometers away. Investigators are working to determine whether the burning vehicle is connected to the earlier shooting.

Motive Under Investigation

At this early stage, the motive for the shooting remains unknown. However, police have stated that they do not believe the incident is related to the recent wave of extortion-related shootings that have affected Surrey and other municipalities. The investigation is ongoing.
