A Toronto woman is speaking out after ordering flowers for her mother's funeral, only to have them delivered to a church in British Columbia instead. The incident, which occurred ahead of Mother's Day, has sparked a consumer alert from CTV's Pat Foran.
Order Gone Wrong
The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, placed an order with a local florist for a floral arrangement to be delivered to the funeral home in Toronto. However, the flowers were mistakenly sent to a church in British Columbia, leaving the family without the planned tribute.
“No one showed any compassion,” she said. “I was already grieving, and this added to the stress.”
Consumer Advice
Pat Foran, CTV's consumer affairs expert, advises customers to confirm delivery details multiple times and request tracking information. He also recommends using credit cards for purchases, as they offer better dispute protection.
- Always double-check the delivery address and date with the florist.
- Request a confirmation email or tracking number.
- Consider ordering from a local florist to reduce the risk of errors.
Foran adds that if flowers do not arrive on time, customers should contact the florist immediately and file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau if necessary.
Florist Response
The florist involved apologized for the error and offered a refund, but the woman says the gesture came too late. She hopes her story will encourage others to be vigilant when ordering flowers for special occasions.
“It’s not just about the money,” she said. “It’s about the meaning behind the flowers.”
