CNN anchor Erin Burnett expressed shock on Wednesday after hearing a die-hard Donald Trump supporter admit that he and his wife resort to fasting to save money on groceries amid the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
Burnett played audio from a recent NPR interview with a Trump voter from Georgia, who stated he remains firmly behind the president despite facing severe financial strain.
The man explained, “I just try to do the cutting back that I could do to, in order to try to, you know, survive until we make it through it. It’s like anything else. It’s a season.”
He then revealed a specific cost-saving measure: “Cook, fast. Me and my wife have been, you know, fasting. And it’s like a lot of benefits. And including one of those benefits is saving money on groceries.”
Burnett was visibly taken aback by the comment. “I mean, it’s stunning,” she said. “I can’t stop thinking about it, that fasting is the solution.”
The segment highlights the economic hardships faced by some Americans and the lengths they go to in order to cope with rising costs.
