KitchenAid Artisan Plus Stand Mixer: New Features Enhance Classic
KitchenAid Artisan Plus: New Stand Mixer Upgrades

KitchenAid has introduced the Artisan Plus Tilt-Head Stand Mixer, a refined version of its iconic kitchen companion. Since its debut in 1955, the KitchenAid stand mixer has become a staple in kitchens worldwide, celebrated for both its aesthetic appeal and functional reliability. Even those who rarely bake often display the mixer as a statement piece, adding a pop of color to their countertops.

The new Artisan Plus line addresses the question of whether a classic can be improved. KitchenAid answered with three key enhancements: an integrated LED bowl light, precision speed control, and a soft start feature. These additions aim to elevate the baking experience without compromising the mixer's legendary durability.

Testing the New Mixer

To evaluate these improvements, a test mixer was put through its paces making waffles—a recipe that demands multiple mixing stages, including beating egg whites, mixing batter, folding, and whipping cream. The Artisan Plus comes with a 4.7-litre stainless steel bowl and dishwasher-safe attachments: a double flex edge beater, dough hook, wire whip, and flat beater, along with a pouring shield.

The first noticeable upgrade is the bowl handle, now a comfortable tube shape instead of the curved sheet metal that could dig into fingers when the bowl is full. The LED bowl light is another welcome addition, illuminating the mixing process in kitchens with poor lighting—a common issue that often requires a phone flashlight to monitor meringue stages.

Enhanced Speed Control

The new mixer features a half-speed setting, significantly slower than the lowest setting on previous models. This gentle speed is ideal for folding stiff egg whites into batter or adding delicate fruits like blueberries without crushing them. The standard Level 1 speed is also slower than the older mixer's stir setting, providing greater control.

For bakers who use multiple bowls, KitchenAid offers additional bowls separately, including ceramic, glass, hammered copper, hammered stainless steel, and even walnut. Investing in a second bowl can save time and frustration, especially when recipes require sequential mixing steps.

The Artisan Plus is available in 14 colors, including Cardamom, ensuring it fits any kitchen decor. With these thoughtful upgrades, KitchenAid proves that even a classic can be improved.
