Apple Retains Top Global Brand, TD Bank Leads in Canada

A new report ranking the world's most valuable brands has found Apple leading the pack once again, with TD Bank maintaining its position as Canada's top brand.

Global Brand Power Survey 2026

British financial analysis platform Tradingpedia's global brand power survey for 2026, which utilized Brand Finance rankings compiled in late May, reveals that American brands continue to dominate the global economy. Seven of the world's ten most valuable brands hail from the United States, led by Apple with an estimated value exceeding $607 billion (approximately CDN$844 billion).

"Data shows American brands continue to dominate the global economy, producing seven of the world's 10 most valuable brands, led once again by Apple with an estimated value of more than $607 billion (CDN$844 billion)," said Michael Fisher, a data scientist at Tradingpedia, in a statement.

Tech giants Microsoft, Google, and Amazon retained their positions behind Apple from 2025, with brand valuations of $565.25 billion, $433.08 billion, and $369.88 billion in US dollars, respectively.

Social Media's Influence on Brand Value

However, brands with substantial social media followings are increasingly overshadowing traditional sectors like banking, telecommunications, and energy in the competition for consumer attention. These include European soccer clubs, sports leagues, and lifestyle brands.

"The brands shaping our everyday lives are not always the ones worth the most money," said Brian McColl, a technical analysis expert at Tradingpedia. "The companies powering the global economy may dominate stock markets, but when people reach for their phones, which increasingly determines the next thing they will spend their money on, it is football clubs, fashion labels, and lifestyle brands that capture their attention the most."

McColl emphasized that the power of social media is driving up the value of leading brand names globally. "Instagram has become a kind of cultural scoreboard, revealing what people choose to follow rather than what investors choose to value," he said. "And that says something about 2026: in a world overloaded with products and information, the brands that win are often the ones that feel less like companies and more like part of our identity."

TD Bank Tops in Canada

The financial analysis showed that TD Bank's brand is valued at $22.25 billion, or nearly $31 billion in Canadian dollars, making it the most valuable brand in Canada.

Top Brands in Other Countries

Other leading brands by country include TikTok in China, valued at $153.54 billion; Corona beer in Mexico, at $13.36 billion; iconic fashion house Chanel in France, worth $34.34 billion; and home furnishing retailer IKEA in Sweden, valued at $13.42 billion.

While oil giant Shell is the United Kingdom's most valuable brand at $45 billion (CDN$62.6 billion) for 2025, England's Premier League attracts the largest Instagram following with nearly 80 million followers.

In Canada, Vancouver-based athletic apparel retailer Lululemon is the most popular brand on social media, boasting more than 5.8 million Instagram followers and 3.6 million fans on Facebook.
