WestJet has achieved the top spot in North America for on-time performance for the second consecutive month, according to the Cirium On-Time Performance Report. The airline also ranked sixth globally among major airlines for June 2026, marking a new record milestone.
Industry-Leading On-Time Performance
In June, WestJet completed nearly 17,000 flights with 86.4% arriving on time, nearly four percentage points ahead of the next highest-ranked North American carrier. The airline also reported a completion factor of 99.43%, demonstrating consistent reliability. This performance capped a strong second quarter, with on-time performance steadily improving throughout the spring.
“Leading North America in on-time performance for all of Q2 is a testament to the focus and commitment of WestJetters across our operation,” said Safa Yamach, WestJet Vice-President of Operations Planning & Performance. “While these rankings are an important benchmark, what matters most is what they represent for our guests: a more reliable travel experience.”
Boeing 737 Retrofit Completed Ahead of Schedule
WestJet’s operations teams completed the retrofit of its remaining Boeing 737 aircraft—previously configured with 180 seats—ahead of schedule. The project was carefully coordinated alongside the busy spring flying schedule and standardized the airline’s narrowbody fleet, reducing operational complexity. Originally planned for completion in fall 2026, the retrofit was finished in mid-June, positioning the airline for the peak summer travel season.
Yamach added, “From investing in our systems and processes to completing major fleet initiatives ahead of schedule, WestJetters are building a stronger, more resilient operation that is delivering measurable results.”
