Saskatchewan Seeding Reaches 93% Completion
According to the latest Saskatchewan crop report, seeding across the province is now 93% complete, bringing farmers close to the finish line for the 2026 growing season. The report, released on June 11, 2026, indicates that most regions have made significant progress despite variable weather conditions.
Regional Progress
The southeastern region leads with 97% completion, while the northeastern area trails slightly at 89%. The west-central region reports 94% seeding completion, and the southwest has reached 92%. The northwest is at 90%, reflecting some delays due to recent rainfall.
Weather Impact
Warm temperatures and limited precipitation have favored seeding operations in many areas. However, isolated thunderstorms have caused minor setbacks in some northern regions. Soil moisture levels are generally adequate, with topsoil moisture rated as 65% adequate and 20% surplus.
Outlook
With seeding nearly complete, farmers are shifting focus to crop emergence and early growth. The report notes that canola, wheat, and barley are emerging well, with most crops in good to excellent condition. The next report will provide updates on crop development and any pest or disease concerns.
