The Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission (IRAC) announced that gas and diesel prices on Prince Edward Island increased overnight, effective June 30, 2026.
Price Details
Regular self-serve gasoline rose by 2.5 cents per litre to a new maximum price of $1.45 per litre. Diesel prices also increased by 2.5 cents per litre, reaching $1.55 per litre. The adjustments reflect changes in global crude oil prices and refining margins, according to IRAC.
Impact on Consumers
The price hike adds approximately $1.25 to the cost of filling a typical 50-litre fuel tank. Local drivers expressed frustration, with one resident stating, “Every increase hurts, especially when you commute daily.” IRAC reviews fuel prices weekly, adjusting based on market trends.
