Montreal police arson squad is investigating after a vehicle was deliberately set on fire in the Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles (RDP) district early Friday morning, causing damage to nearby parked cars.
Incident Details
Emergency services responded to a call around 3:30 a.m. on July 10, 2026, after reports of a car fire in the area of 37th Avenue and Perras Boulevard. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, but the torched vehicle was completely destroyed. Two adjacent cars also sustained damage from the intense heat and flames.
The Montreal police arson squad has taken over the investigation. No arrests have been made, and authorities are appealing for witnesses or anyone with surveillance footage to come forward.
No Injuries Reported
According to SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant, no injuries were reported in the incident. “The fire was contained to the vehicles and did not spread to any structures,” Brabant said. “We are treating this as a suspicious fire and are gathering evidence.”
