DP World Invests $100M in Dominican Republic Logistics

DP World, in partnership with the Government of the Dominican Republic, has announced an additional US$100 million investment to expand logistics and warehousing infrastructure at the Caucedo Free Trade Zone (FTZ). The announcement was made during the 12th World Free Zones Congress 2026, with President Luis Abinader and DP World CEO Manuel Martínez in attendance.

Strengthening Regional Trade

This new investment builds on a previous US$760 million commitment signed in May 2025, aimed at expanding the Port of Caucedo and its FTZ. The latest funds, allocated through the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, will support the development of additional warehouse space and increase overall logistics capacity. This integration of port, free zone, and logistics services is designed to meet growing demand across the Americas.

Economic Impact

According to independent research by Oxford Economics, DP World already supports nearly 5,000 jobs nationwide in the Dominican Republic and could boost goods exports to US$2.4 billion by 2035. In 2024, the Port of Caucedo handled US$13.3 billion in total trade, underscoring its importance as a trade gateway.

Manuel Martínez, CEO of DP World in the Dominican Republic, added: “By expanding logistics and warehousing, we enable customers to scale efficiently and strengthen the country’s competitiveness as a regional trade hub.”
