The province of Saskatchewan has released its list of the most popular baby names for 2025, with Olivia and Noah taking the top spots. The announcement was made on Tuesday by eHealth Saskatchewan, revealing the top 20 names for each sex, including notable ties and significant movements from the previous year.
Girls' Names: Olivia Returns to Number One
After dropping to second place in 2024, Olivia reclaimed the top position in 2025 with 43 newborns. This marks the ninth time in the last decade that Olivia has held the number one spot for girls' names in Saskatchewan.
The rest of the top five girls' names feature a tie for second place between Lainey and Nora, each with 37 newborns. Amelia follows with 36, while Evelyn and Sophia are tied for fifth with 35 each.
Lainey's rise is particularly noteworthy, as the name jumped from the 20th spot in 2024 to second place in 2025. The province noted that names like Emma, Charlotte, Ellie, and Lily continue to be popular choices for parents.
Boys' Names: Noah Leads, Jack Close Behind
Noah topped the boys' list with 49 newborns, followed closely by Jack with 48. A three-way tie for third place occurred between Muhammad, Oliver, and William, each with 44 newborns.
Muhammad made a significant leap from the 13th spot in 2024, after only just making the list in 2023. Other rising names include Hudson, Theodore, and Weston. Henry, which was the top name in 2024, dropped to 11th place in 2025.
Birth Statistics and Notes
According to preliminary data, there were 13,408 live births registered in Saskatchewan in 2025, a slight increase from 13,207 in 2024. The data does not include babies born outside the province, as noted in the news release.
