Two prominent arts and music venues in Regina were among the businesses affected by a recent cyber attack, according to employees. The Artesian and the Exchange experienced issues with their websites due to an incident involving Squareflo, the Regina-based company that hosts their online platforms.
Squareflo stated on its website that on May 1, 2026, the company encountered "a major incident causing numerous clients sites to go down." As of Tuesday afternoon, the websites for both entertainment venues remained inaccessible.
Impact on Venues
Leah Erenberg, the Artesian's artistic director, described the incident as an "inconvenience," noting that tickets were unavailable on the venue's website for about a week. "We didn't have any sensitive information on our website, which is positive, and we were looking to upgrade our website soon anyways," Erenberg wrote in an email. She added that Squareflo provided updates to customers, but the Artesian has decided to switch to a new website provider.
Zandra Kas, manager and artistic director of the Exchange, reported a similar impact at her venue. She noted that the website company is working to restore services, and the Exchange implemented a "quick fix" to continue selling tickets through an associated site. Kas emphasized that the local venues were likely not specifically targeted.
Response from Squareflo
An artificial intelligence-based virtual assistant responded to calls to Squareflo's phone number, stating, "Thanks for reaching out. We don't handle media inquiries over the phone." The assistant directed inquiries to email, but a request for comment did not receive a response before the deadline.
