The Ottawa Charge of the Professional Women's Hockey League are reportedly targeting Dara Greig, sister of Ottawa Senators forward Ridly Greig, as free agency enters its next phase.
Dara Greig, a 5-foot-7, 25-year-old forward, recently completed her second PWHL season with the Montreal Victoire, recording three goals, two assists, and 20 penalty minutes in 29 regular-season games. She added one assist in nine playoff appearances during Montreal's Walter Cup championship run.
While the signing would be a popular move among Ottawa hockey fans, it also fuels speculation about the Charge's future home. Unconfirmed reports suggest the team may move from TD Place to the Canadian Tire Centre (CTC) as a full-time tenant next season, sharing the arena with the Senators.
According to sources, Charge general manager Mike Hirshfeld has been using the potential move to CTC as a recruiting tool, promising free agents that they would practice and play in the same facility as the NHL team, with a dedicated dressing room being built for the Charge.
Neither the PWHL, Senators, Charge, nor the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group have confirmed the relocation, but many believe an announcement is imminent. The delay in publicizing the deal may be due to unresolved details or the league's sometimes opaque procedures.
Dara Greig's collegiate career included 132 points in 174 games split between Wisconsin and Colgate, highlighted by an NCAA national championship with the Badgers in 2020-21. She posted 17 goals and 42 points in 40 games during her final season with the Raiders.
Her brother Ridly Greig, a former first-round pick, has become a fan favorite in Ottawa for his physical play and defensive reliability. In 2025-26, he set career highs with 13 goals and 22 assists.
The Charge have already re-signed four veterans during Phase 5 of free agency, and Hirshfeld continues to fill roster openings as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
