Unseasonably mild late-winter temperatures turned what is typically a snowy event into a muddy grind on Saturday at Buxton Speedway, a popular raceway located near Chatham. The annual Buxton Blizzard 100-lap enduro race, held on February 28, 2026, attracted drivers and fans eager for off-season competition before the regular schedule begins.
Challenging Conditions on the Track
Out of 40 registered drivers, 37 took to the saturated 3/8-mile oval track, which quickly deteriorated into thick, clinging mud. Drivers navigated the treacherous conditions with mud-coated windshields and packed wheel wells, skillfully maneuvering around other vehicles that had become stuck in the mire.
