McMann's tribute was both simple and powerful. Before the Leafs' Saturday night game against the Vancouver Canucks at Scotiabank Arena, the winger chose to forgo his usual stylish entrance attire. Instead, he walked into the arena wearing Wilson's distinctive day-glo work vest and name tag from the Bathurst and Lake Shore Loblaws location. This act ensured Wilson, who touched countless customers during his five years at the store, was remembered on a national stage.
"He was just a really good spirit, a really good person," McMann told Sportsnet during a Monday morning skate in Denver. "He affected a lot of people positively when they walked into that place. And then he was just a life-long Leafs fan. Always wanted to talk hockey, record the game."
A Community in Mourning
The sudden loss of Kevin Wilson has deeply affected his workplace and the local community. Co-workers described him as an unforgettable presence who connected with everyone.
"(Kevin) spoke to probably every customer," co-worker Wayne Walker told CFTO News, "including children in strollers."
Another colleague, Sofia Gomes, added, "I don't think he even realized how much people loved him." In response to the outpouring of grief, a tribute area with cards, flowers, and Leafs memorabilia has been set up at the front of the Loblaws store.
McMann, who had met Wilson at the store and posed for photos with him, became the late worker's favourite player. The Alberta-born forward, who took an undrafted path to the NHL via Colgate University, the ECHL, and the Toronto Marlies, clearly valued the connection. On his Instagram, McMann posted a photo with the caption 'walking with my guy Kev', accompanied by a blue heart emoji.

In a separate but equally community-focused moment from the Leafs' weekend, team captain Auston Matthews surprised locals at a shinny game in Greenwood Park in Toronto's east end on Friday. With the team idle after a win in Philadelphia, Matthews joined the pickup game, helped pick teams by throwing sticks at centre ice, and spent about ten minutes playing before signing autographs and taking pictures.
