Baseball Meets Golf: Rogers Charity Classic Unveils Ballpark on 16
Baseball Meets Golf at Rogers Charity Classic

The Rogers Charity Classic is bringing a baseball vibe to the golf course with the introduction of The Ballpark on 16, a unique hole designed to wow fans, challenge golfers, and raise funds for children's charities. The event, part of the PGA Tour Champions, will take place at Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club in Calgary from Aug. 21-23, 2026.

Celebrating the Blue Jays' 50th Anniversary

This year's edition pays tribute to the Toronto Blue Jays' 50th season in Major League Baseball. The Ballpark on 16 transforms the par-3 sixth hole into a vibrant Jays-themed destination, reminiscent of the rink hole often seen at Canadian golf tournaments. Fans will have an opportunity to connect with Canada's team in a uniquely Calgary setting.

Charity and Competition

Rogers will donate $1,000 to the Jays Care Foundation for every birdie made on the hole during the tournament. PGA Tour Champions star Billy Andrade, a close friend of former Blue Jays legend Roger Clemens, expressed excitement about the addition. "I think all the players are going to love it and eat it up," Andrade said. "It's a great addition to the fan experience."

The sixth hole measures 210 yards from the tips and is considered challenging. Andrade joked, "It would be great if they moved the tee up a little to get more birdies. If you make a birdie there, you're doing something great."

Record-Breaking Fundraising

The Rogers Charity Classic has raised $164.3 million since its inception in 2013, including a record $26.6 million last year through Rogers Birdies for Kids, presented by AltaLink. The donation drive continues through August, with Rogers matching donations to participating charities by up to 50 percent. A $1 million donation from Rogers will further support children's charities.

"At the core of our mission is to leverage this event to make a positive impact on youth and their families," said Rogers Charity Classic chair Jim Riddell. "This donation represents our shared commitment to helping children overcome challenges and access new opportunities."

The tournament features a star-studded field competing for $2.5 million in the three-round, 54-hole stroke-play event. Fans can expect a unique blend of baseball and golf, all while supporting a worthy cause.
