The Saskatoon Berries continued their impressive start to the Western Canadian Baseball League season, posting four wins and one loss over the past week. Their 7-2 record now sits atop the league standings.
Dominant Home Victory
On Sunday night, the Berries defeated the Weyburn Beavers 15-4 in front of a home crowd. Nichols Nash hit the lone home run for Saskatoon, while pitcher Michael Sall earned the win after throwing five innings, allowing two hits and striking out five.
Other Wins
The Berries also defeated the Regina Red Sox twice during the week. On Tuesday, they won 11-10 in Regina, and on Saturday, they secured a 3-2 victory at home. Thursday saw Saskatoon beat the Moose Jaw Miller Express 7-4 at Cairns Field.
Only Loss
Saskatoon's sole defeat of the week came on Friday, when they fell 3-2 to the host Swift Current 57s. This was only their second loss of the season.

The Berries return to action Tuesday and Wednesday with back-to-back home games at 7 p.m. against the Medicine Hat Mavericks.
Vancouver Bandits Top Saskatoon Mamba
In Canadian Elite Basketball League action, the Vancouver Bandits defeated the visiting Saskatoon Mamba 105-85 on Saturday. The Bandits outscored the Mamba 29-15 in the first and third quarters combined. Jaylin Williams led all scorers with 25 points off the bench for Saskatoon, while Vancouver's Jarkel Joiner added 23 points. The loss snapped Saskatoon's two-game win streak, dropping them to 2-5, still fourth in the Western Conference. The Mamba travel to face the Calgary Surge (0-7) on Wednesday.
Saskatoon Valkyries Claim Top Spot
The Western Women's Canadian Football League season concluded Sunday with the Saskatoon Valkyries defeating the host Manitoba Fearless 25-11 to finish 4-0 and secure the Prairie Conference's top spot. The win earns Saskatoon a first-round playoff bye. They will host the winner of the semifinal between the Fearless and the Regina Riot on June 20.
